Who this is for
Boarding school & university families
Boarding school
Your child is getting mobile.
Exeats, weekends, holidays — the school medical centre can't follow them. We can. And we'll keep you in the loop from anywhere.
They're young adults now.
University
Navigating the NHS alone, in a foreign country, while unwell — that's a lot to ask. We're in their corner without getting in their way.
Here for less than six months? You still deserve proper care. Maison Medica supports students on short-term exchanges to the UK — even if you're only here for a term, we can make sure you're prepared, connected and looked after while you're here.

Planning ahead
Most families think about insurance after something goes wrong. Plan ahead. Here's what to know.
Option 1
No insurance
Pay as you go — NHS where possible, private when needed. Works for some families, but can leave families exposed to unexpected costs, long waits and without coordinated care.
Option 2
Student insurance
Basic policies sold through schools, universities or student brokers. Covers specialist care and some urgent situations — but typically means quick online GP appointments with doctors who don't know your child, don't know their history and aren't experienced with international families.

Option 3
International health insurance
A good option for families who are cautious about their child's health abroad. One policy that covers your child in England, travelling home, on holiday — wherever they go. This is only the beginning of their international life.
Good to know: Most international health insurance policies cover private GP consultations. Always check your policy terms.
